While backlinks and content remain the dominant factors in SEO, over the past few years, Google seems to have been moving more towards user feedback signals like engagement, retention, and bounce rates.
We believe Google will continue to move away from external signals like backlinks and move towards user experience signals. This seems to have already been done with YouTube. YouTube videos used to be ranked based on thumbs-up view count and comments, but now it’s all about user experience and engagement. If someone leaves the video instantly, it ranks lower. If they watch the full video, it ranks higher. We believe the same things are being applied in the SERPs (search engine results pages).

Is it risky?
All SEO efforts can involve an element of risk. Some techniques are certainly riskier than others. SparkCliks employs real human clickers, so we think our service is far less risky than trying to use automated or robotic click methods, which are not only risky but simply do not work. But, like all SEO strategies, there is an element of risk because Google’s algorithm is unknown and subject to change at any time.
That said, it is highly unlikely that a site would be penalized for trying to boost its CTR. If this were so, then people would be using this method against their competitors!
Google always has to be careful of unintended consequences. This happened before when they were penalizing sites that were linked to “bad neighborhoods” and black hat SEOs quickly realized they could employ this technique against their competitors’ sites and get them penalized! So, for this reason, if nothing else, it’s extremely unlikely that our service would ever result in any kind of penalty.
